Joshua Dale Adkins, 36, of South Webster, passed away at his residence on Friday, August 29, 2019. He was born December 2, 1982, in Portsmouth, a son of Gobele Adkins and Teresa JoAnn McGlone.
Josh graduated from Scioto County Career and Technical Center as an electrician, but his interests were many and varied. He seemed to have a knack for coming up with ingenious solutions to problems. He was a hard-working young man, working in the lawn care business, and if there was one question that was always on his lips, it was, “Do you need help with anything?” He loved to ride horses and was known for breaking horses to ride, making them rear up and riding them for miles. Josh was especially fond of drawing, making wood carvings, fishing and collecting old things. Extremely generous with his time and talent, it was well known that he would offer a person the very shirt from his back.
Josh was very loving and protective of friends and family. He especially loved his dog, Harley, whom he counted among his best friends. He loved music, too. It was not unusual to see Josh with his headphones on, drumming along with the music on his lap. He was in the band in high school, and he always felt that music was one thing that could make him happy and bring peace. Some might say that Josh lived a difficult life, but he had recently turned some corners and was looking forward to fulfilling some lifelong plans. Josh had a deep faith in God and always prayed before meals. He is also a member of the Saponi Catawba Nation. He will be missed by so many people.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Bryon C. Adkins of South Webster, his girlfriend, Ginetta Abbott, his grandparents, Carl McGlone, Goldie McGlone, Wes McGlone, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Andy Adkins and Rose Marie Collins Adkins.
The family will have a private viewing at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 6, and receive other visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
